Affectionately called "Dr. Love," Eddie has recently completed his PhD in social psychology where his dissertation research focused on how 18 - 20 year olds cope with relationship break-ups. Perhaps, more accurately, Eddie is Dr. Unlove.
Eddie has worked with Stormy Lake for the last four years as he completed his graduate studies and joined us full-time in 2013. Eddie has experience in the tourism, social marketing, post-secondary education and health care sectors as a qualitative researcher and strategist.
In addition to his work at Stormy Lake, our very busy Eddie is an instructor at the University of Calgary, where he teaches courses in intimate relationships, attachment in adult relationships, and introductory and advanced statistics. He is a member of the Canadian Psychological Association, Faculty Member of the Society of Personality and Social Psychology, and a Faculty Member of the International Association of Relationship Research.
Outside of academic life, Eddie has owned and operated a martial arts studio, teaching karate to children, youth and adults. He has worked as a facilitator at the Behaviour Institute in Hamilton, Ontario, and is trained in Applied Behavioural Analysis and Crisis Prevention Intervention. He was both a national champion rower, a gold medalist at the W.K.O. World Karate Championships, and was inducted into the City of Thorold Athletic Hall of Fame – in his spare time.
